June 2023: Rethinking the Operating Model of Home-Based Care
Registration for the June 11-12 LIVE is closed. Please join us in September in Nashville. Dates and registration details will be available soon.
To protect the profitability of our core operating lines, we'll need to question assumptions that have been ingrained across decades of clinical and non-clinical practice. For this LIVE discussion, we'll cover three areas that merit (re)consideration. The discussion will wrap up at 11:45 am Monday, then we will be joined by HI2 conference keynoter, Vin Gupta, MD, CMO-New Products at Amazon. Over lunch, we'll chat with Dr. Gupta about how science, technology and product development are destined to transform the way you care for patients and clients.
Discussion Items (Monday, June 11, 8:00 am - 11:45 am)
1. Rethinking Resource and Skill Mix: COVID proved that the clinical playbook can be re-written without sacrificing quality. With this backdrop: How much more can the clinical resource mix change to meet the payment challenges ahead? What is the right mix of in-person and virtual care? What does a changing resource/skill mix mean for our learning and development function? What's the next step beyond 'top of license' thinking?
2. Rethinking Human Interaction: While our businesses are distinctly human, there's no question that AI is changing the healthcare landscape at a breathtaking pace. Given the pace of change: Will AI cause us to rethink every human action and ask whether there is a virtual substitution? What are the ramifications for our recruiting and resourcing when AI replaces human interaction? How do we keep AI from de-humanizing our human-focused businesses?
3. Rethinking Government Payers: Federal and state government will be increasingly strapped as our population ages. Based on the continued volatility of the government payer, do businesses that rely on government funds need to diversify towards private insurers and/or into privately paid services? Are home-based services the only diversification we should consider? What can we learn from consumer-driven businesses about the private pay opportunity?
