March 6 - Roundtable: Optimizing Scheduling Practices

Scheduling is one of the most fundamental elements in the operations of home-based care yet remains a challenge for nearly every organization. Optimizing the scheduling functionality can provide greater efficiencies, increase caregiver capacity and timely access to care, and enhance the experience for staff and patients/clients. This roundtable will discuss the various components of enabling a best-in-class scheduling capability, key challenges to address, and opportunities to leverage technology to alleviate pain points, including:

  1. What are the biggest challenges for your organization when it comes to scheduling?

  2. Which stakeholders are a priority for you to alleviate scheduling pain points? (e.g. internal staff, nurses, physicians, patients/clients/families)

  3. What process do you have in place today to optimize your scheduling functionality?

  4. How much of your scheduling capabilities are offered through your EHR vs. other third party vendors vs. outsourced?

  5. Is your organization willing to invest in better scheduling tools and how do you think about making the business case for it? What key metrics need to be impacted?
