Amidst an ongoing shift to value-based care and changing relationships with payers, hospice providers have another uphill battle to fight: the number of Americans living with serious illnesses is expected to double in the coming years and promoting access to and utilization of hospice care services is increasingly important. Yet, the public continues to be poorly educated around the concept of hospice and its benefits. Providers hoping to change the narrative around hospice care have to focus on innovative ways to foster relationships with patients, their families, and referring physicians.
We will discuss challenges across the patient and provider journeys before, during, and after a hospice stay and highlight opportunities for providers to enhance these relationships while enabling accessible, high-quality care that is well-perceived by the community at-large.
